1. Positive Reinforcement

Telling someone 'not to do something' does not really work. Giving them options to 'do something differently' is a more powerful option! Math can be a very intimidating subject for students and is not to be taking lightly, if the subject is difficult for the student they can really shut down on you.

As a teacher you never want to imply that something is EASY because it can really make a student feel as though they are dumb. Remember every student learns differently.
