16. 12 Days of Christmas
Google PNC site and it will show you how much
the twelve days of Christmas would cost every year starting in 1984. This activity
would show students how much Christmas presents fluctuate in price every year.
Maybe teaching them what their parents go through every year trying to secure
the right present for them.
Reflection
Until the Math class at the University I did
not realize how many items are actually being bought during the 12 days of
Christmas. 364 in fact!
Reflection
on Reflection
The song says that the gift receiver
receives one partridge in a pear tree, but they receive this partridge
in a pear tree on the second day, third and so on, till the twelve days are
complete. Making 12 partridges in a pear
tree in total! This continues for every other item on the list also.
This lesson can teach children important
problem solving techniques for future lessons and more importantly with real
world application.
